FORMER Christian School Hurstville gymnast Stephanie Magiros, 22, did not make the final or win a medal overnight such as fellow Australian and silver medallist Torah Bright, but she ‘‘lit up’’ the snowboarding half pipe competition just the same.
In her Winter Olympics debut in Sochi, the Sydney girl of Greek and Australian heritage — a former national artistic gymnastics gold medallist with the Miranda-based NSW Academy of Gymnastics — was the only Australian snowboarder (apart from Bright) to make it past the heats.
And even though she crashed out with two falls in the semi-finals, the bubbly Magiros with the gold eye make-up and green and gold hair additions still managed plenty of smiles.
Magiros finished 18th overall and fellow Australian Holly Crawford finished 26th after competing with a broken wrist.
