THREE labradors that sniff out the potentially lethal electric ants of Cairns seem a long way from the Sydney Cats and Dogs Home.
The link is Ryan Anderson.
The detective dogs are the workaday companions for government-employed Mr Anderson, 27.
Dogs are his passion, which is what led him to the Carlton animal home.
"I started trying to put every single breed of dog on Instagram just as a hobby and then there was a bit of an overlap working with rescue groups like the Cats and Dogs Home," he said. "I'm involved with North Queensland animal rescue."
At the home he found one of the breeds he so far had not entered on Instagram, a stray pomeranian called Teddy.
Through Instagram Mr Anderson got to know Michael McTeigue of the dog-treat company Savourlife whose relationship with the home is through its policy of investing back half its profits to pet-rescue organisations such as the Carlton home.
Mr Anderson's own pet is a rottweiler.
