ADAM Quinlan has worn many different numbers on his rugby league jerseys in his lifetime.
He would have no problem filling out a Lotto ticket because he has had so many combinations.
Quinlan has played fullback, wing, centre, five-eighth and halfback throughout his footy career.
The Culburra Dolphins junior came to the Dragons in 2012 and played with the Holden Cup team. He burst into first grade last season.
Newcastle were chasing him but he stayed loyal and signed again with the Dragons.
Quinlan has played fullback and halfback so far this season.
When Josh Dugan was injured, Quinlan answered the call from coach Steve Price and moved back to No.1.
He switched to No.7 against Souths at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Quinlan became the third man to start at halfback for St George this season in their heavy loss to the Rabbitohs.
Despite doing very little training at halfback, Quinlan has made it clear to coach Steve Price that he wants to be given a shot at staking a permanent claim for the No.7 jumper.
Michael Witt began the season at No.7 against the Wests Tigers and injured his shoulder scoring a try and was replaced.
Then Sam Williams had his chances at No.7 against the Warriors, Sharks and Broncos.
Coach Price has three different halfback options — all different styles.
Witt has a good balance in his game of running and organising skills, and he can kick goals and is a wonderful back-up in this department to Gareth Widdop.
Williams is steady and is working on his kicking game.
Quinlan is fast, has good footwork, sharp passing and good hands. It’s a long season and it just might be that three good, yet contrasting halfbacks, are better than one.
‘‘Now that I’ve been given this shot at halfback I’ve got to try to make it my own and stay there as long as I can,’’ Quinlan said.
Do you think Quinlan should remain as halfback?
