MARINE Rescue NSW has offered some pointers so boaties remain safe during Easter and Anzac Day holidays.
Commissioner Stacey Tannos said volunteers would be on duty at Marine Rescue units along the coastline, and inland on the Alpine Lakes and Murray River at Moama.
Ms Tannos said boaties should check the vessel was in good working order, the battery fully charged and that fuel, oil and coolant levels were correct.
Boaties should log on and log off with the nearest Marine Rescue unit and let the unit know the destination, the number of people on board and the expected time of return.
People should know their position so they could guide rescuers in an emergency.
In a life-threatening emergency, call triple-0 and make a mayday call on marine radio.
For help on the water, radio or phone the service. The phone number of the marine rescue base for Botany and Port Hacking is 9668 9888.
