ELEVEN teenagers from Broken Hill got their first taste of surfing last week when they took the plunge at North Cronulla beach.
Their visit to Sutherland Shire was hosted by Sutherland PCYC as part of the Broken Hill to the Bay program, a partnership with Barrier police local area command and Broken Hill PCYC.
The program supports and encourages teenagers to attend school, stay out of trouble and build networks and positive relationships with the police and PCYC.
Senior Constable Michelle Druery, of Sutherland PCYC, said one of the highlights of the visit was seeing the GWS Giants AFL team. The teenagers also completed a 20-kilometre hike and went kayaking, sailing and camping.
