SINGER-songwriter extraordinaire Paul Greene has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working musicians on the back of relentless touring, recording, collaborations and production work.
And you would expect nothing less from a former track star who would train hard enough to make himself sick at least once a week while on the way to becoming Australia’s fastest 400-metre runner and competing at the Olympic Games.
Since hanging up his spikes, Greene has released eight albums as well as two with former Midnight Oil drummer Rob Hirst, performed with songwriting legends Ani DiFranco, Patty Griffin and Alvin Youngblood Hart, and produced records for James Blundell, Kirsty Lee Akers and Greg Arnold (Things of Stone and Wood).
He has sold more than 60,000 albums and even recorded a cover of a Wiggles song, much to the delight of his two daughters.
In his not-so-spare time, he’s also fronting the latest incarnation of Oz rock legends Spy v Spy.
Following up from his 2012 ARIA-nominated album, Behind the Stars, Greene’s intriguing ride continues with his eighth album, One Lap of the Sun, released on March 28.
Greene and The Other Colours have taken the new album on the road with some special shows around the state.
‘‘I’ve made a lot of friends and met a lot of great people while touring all around Australia over the past decade,’’ Greene said.
‘‘It’s always great to roll into town and catch up with everyone, and I’m especially looking forward to show off the new songs from the album to everyone.’’
