ATTENDANCE at Easter services at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, Beverly Hills, has increased over the past four years, parish priest Father Arthur Givney (pictured) says.
‘‘Obviously, there is a general downward trend, but at Easter and on Good Friday in particular, it is very encouraging to see people you don’t normally see,’’ he said.
Father Givney and his assistant, Father Peter Kwak, will be in for a busy week because Anzac Day has extra significance in their church, which commemorates Australian-US friendship in war and peace and is also a war memorial to those who died in the Battle of the Coral Sea.
How will you celebrate Easter?
A high point is the procession through the streets on Good Friday night of the Epitaphios of Christ, an icon depicting Christ after his removal from the cross.
At Kogarah, the procession will start at 8.30pm.
