No more time to lose for lions

When Dr Philipp Henschel went looking for lions in west Africa, he got a nasty surprise - there were hardly any left. Henschel and his colleagues recently completed the most comprehensive study of west Africa's lions ever undertaken. In their search, they spent six years travelling through 17 countries, and they did so in the most difficult of conditions, hiking though areas where there were no roads, but plenty of aggressive poachers and rebel groups.
