The demolished, mined away, excavated below sea level, former majestic sand dunes on the Kurnell peninsula are now "has-breens".
Their beauty was extinguished for profit. Some extracted sand has been converted into vertical high-rise concrete jungles at places like Wolli Creek.
A minor tidal wave or tsunami (they are becoming more frequent) will surge across the flattened landscape sweeping buildings, cars, people and dogs into Botany Bay.
The low-lying road away provides no escape route. It would be congested and drowned in the backwash as the wave recedes.
A government which agrees to building on this site should be swept from office.
