TRENDS may come and go, but one thing is for sure when it comes to this style — classics never die.
From beauty to beautiful dresses, Mirella Honeman of Woolooware is the creator behind Pin Up Empire Clothing, an online vintage-inspired boutique that blends femininity with a touch of sexy.
Her Australian-operated business sells brands of clothing that epitomise 1940s glamour, 1950s rockabilly and the swinging ’60s.
Pin Up Empire, born from a love of fashion and a bygone era of timeless elegance, buys from labels all over the world.
‘‘We source from America, England and Europe and we carry some Australian designer brands,’’ Mirella said.
‘‘We found that pin-up clothing was very costly when purchased overseas, especially because of shipping costs, so we wanted to make it affordable, convenient and fun.’’
Labels including Hollywood celebrity favourite Stop Staring! and popular British label Hell Bunny.
We love the cute polka-dot knee-length figure-hugging ‘‘Marilyn-esque’’ frocks that look seriously amazing with a pair of pumps.
There are accessories, shoes and swimwear, all in the same retro style that Mirella, 50, adores.
‘‘We have been online since November last year,’’ she said.
‘‘I had a beauty salon for 24 years, then went into retirement for about eight years because I had my daughter. Since going live in December, it’s been great.
‘‘We want women to be able to feel glamorous and comfortable, so we offer a wide range of different styles to suit all body types and ages.
‘‘It’s a positive thing for woman to have the option of wearing something beautiful to feel confident in a style that has longevity.
‘‘It’s timeless and more of a statement rather than a passing fashion fad.’’
