Now that was a week of surfing - from Wednesday to Wednesday, something for everybody! Thursday 5ft, Good Friday 6ft, Easter Saturday 8ft+, Sunday 4-5ft and Monday 3-4ft offshore and all the banks had aligned.
Voodoo had its moments, KP broke,The Cape, The Island and The Point all had good sessions.
This leaves us with Tuesday (yesterday) where dawn broke to 2ft clean peaks. If you surfed early and didn’t look again you should give yourself an uppercut , and Benny Horvath should get a new crystal ball because his isn’t working.
I did a 2 o’clock job at Woolooware and did a quick surf check- a spike of 4-6ft south swell, offshore from dawn till dusk and the banks were perfect.
I don’t think it could have got much better; there was a bank at John Davey that was a perfect A frame and everybody knew about it Blake and his boys,Luke Egan, all the Wanda clubbies…there were kids and kooks getting waves up and down the beach they had only seen on TV!
After getting up at 4am today and loading 2 boards in my car it could only be disappointing, there were still 2-3ft clean waves at Wanda and the banks were still good -BUT-you should have been here yesterday!
Enough looking at history, the Swellnet forecast tells us we could still have a couple of good days ahead, with a new swell on Friday and another on Sunday giving us shoulder high waves, albeit with a bit of Sou East in it.
It’s been a feast of action with Bells on 12 hours a day on” Fuel” so if you weren’t surfing you were watching surfing, I know it made my wife’s Easter!
The opening heat of today saw Sally Fitz strike first against reigning ASP Women's World Champion and defending event winner Carissa Moore. Fitzgibbons notched a minimal score of 4.00 for her opening ride, while the Hawaiian sat in wait.
Finally, at the 17-minute mark, Moore locked in to a Bells Bowl set, displaying two committed outside turns for a 6.33. Fitzgibbons quickly matched Moore's score with a 6 of her own. Moore found a mid-range backup score to steal the lead. Fitzgibbons found a wave with just seconds remaining in the heat, but fell painfully shy with a 4.20, just half of a point short of what she needed to overtake Moore.
Than Steph was knocked out by Tyler Wright before they started the men's round 5 where De Souza smashed Medina, King Kelly beat Melling and Julian Wilson was beating Jordy as I write this, until Jordy caught a bomb and smashed it needing a 9.97-he got a 9.93-Unlucky. You should get on and have a look because they will be ringing Bells sometime today! Go Parko!
I have hardly anything else to say except surfing's world domination continues with, the International Surfing Association (ISA) proud to welcome Latvia as the ISA's 83rd Member Nation.
Officially called the Republic of Latvia, the country is located in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. It is bordered by Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus and by a maritime border to the west with Sweden.
The water-rich country boasts hundreds of rivers and lakes, as well as the Baltic Sea, which has made it an up-and-coming destination for water tourism including Surfing and more recently Stand Up Paddle (SUP). While Surfing is focused primarily in a variety of beach breaks and river mouths in the Baltic Sea, better wear a good wetsuit!
Anyway keep getting wet and go the Aussies!
