A NEW cafe at Kogarah Bay has opened to provide funds for Exodus Youth Worx and provide employment opportunities in hospitality.
Exodus Cafe will also help the non-profit organisation become self-sustainable.
A grand opening with live music and face painting will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
"Because Exodus is non-profit we rely on donations to run so this cafe will be a solid backbone for us," said marketing manager Nancy Louka.
"The second objective is to provide employment and for workers to be trained by senior staff and have the opportunity to expand their skills in waiting, making coffee or cooking."
The cafe is Moroccan-themed with a colourful decor.
"We were looking for a point of difference; it has that ethnicity and flavour and something unique," said Exodus director Debbie Armanious.
"It is to be a training ground for young people and also a lot of new arrivals, who often start out working in this industry."
Ms Louka said "opportunity is the key word here".
Exodus Youth Worx is a diverse youth community that aspires to empower young people.
Exodus offers fellowship and guidance through various activities that provide youth with a positive and constructive network and environment.
Drop-in centres operate at Ramsgate and Granville.
The cafe will help the organisation to continue to expand its work with young people and become self-sufficient.
