SUE and Steve Cash fear the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be a budget casualty.
The couple, of Como, has two children with disabilities. Charlie, 2, suffers from CDKL5, a rare genetic disorder that causes severe neuro-developmental delay and results in frequent, difficult-to-control seizures.
Dylan, 6, was diagnosed with autism when he was three and is in a special satellite class at Kareela Public School.
Ms Cash said the biggest concern for parents of children with severe disabilities was "who will care for them when we are no longer around".
"The NDIS seemed to provide a single point of contact, but now we hear funding could be cut back," she said.
Ms Cash said they were also concerned the carer's allowance would be cut.
"We are not a low-income household but we have extremely high living costs," she said.
"I work out of the house two days a week for my sanity, but I have to pay a nanny half of what I earn."
Should funding for the NDIS be cut?
