THE future of St George District Cricket Club appears to be in safe hands.
The club, which has the knack of producing quality cricketers over a long period, has the next generation of young talent coming through.
A bevy of youth is emerging at representative level.
Several promising players have been named in Cricket NSW Academy's under-19s and under-17 squads.
The under-19s selected in the NSW squad are: Daniel Arahu, Brent Atherton and Luke Bartier.
For the Blues' under-17s squad, Mitchell Gray and Saahil Parekh were selected.
The under-19s program starts later this month which will include a series of development and skills sessions that will be followed by a tour to Brisbane playing games against Queensland and more games in Sydney during September and October.
Daniel Arahu had a stand- out 2013/14 season breaking into first grade after scoring 315 runs at 63 in second grade. The young batsman made 70 on debut in first grade.
Brent Atherton also had a productive season, scoring 518 runs in second and third grades.
Luke Bartier joins the squad after a successful campaign as a member of last season's NSW under-17s team that narrowly missed out winning the national championship in South Australia.
For the Dragons, the all-rounder scored 376 runs across third, second and first grades and also took 20 wickets with the ball.
St George Cricket Club administrator Jon Jobson said Bartier became one of the club's youngest first grade talents in recent years.
The under-17s program starts in late May with development and skills sessions that will lead into a tour to Brisbane to play games against Queensland.
There are more games in Sydney and regional NSW during October and November.
Mitchell Gray and Saahil Parekh were selected in the under-17s squad after strong Green Shield seasons with the Dragons.
Gray scored 274 runs at 49 with a highest score of 103, while Parekh claimed 18 wickets at 11.69 at an economy rate of 2.39 runs per over.
