LAUREN Seymour, of Peakhurst, was voted the country's favourite female dancer in Channel Ten's So You Think You Can Dance Australia earlier this month.
The lyrical jazz specialist made it to the final episode of the competition, performing a variety of dance styles live on national television.
She was runner-up to Michael Dameski in the final.
"I have learnt more than I ever dreamed I would and I learnt to work with choreographers I never thought I'd have the chance to experience working with," Seymour said.
"I learnt about myself, the type of dancer I am and now I know my body can reach those limits and work through the pain and, at the end of the day, that's an incredible feeling."
Lauren, 22, was a favourite throughout much of the competition but said she went into the show without expectation and was thrilled to reach the grand final.
She credits the support of the community and especially the All Starz Performing Arts Studio, Peakhurst, where she and her sister Hannah both teach dance.
Hannah, 19, also competed in the show, reaching the top 30.
With the competition behind her, Lauren's future plans include teaching workshops, sharing her passion for dance and awaiting any opportunities to launch her career in dance.
