NO doubt about it, there is mess along Turrella Street, Turrella, and it extends for at least 100 metres.
The narrow stretch along the rail corridor near Turella station contains the usual type of litter discarded by careless people: cigarette packets, bottles, take-away containers, bits of paper, even a car tyre.
Nearby resident of 11 years, Sandy Breuer, says the only time the site is cleaned up is when she rings the council to complain.
"I've spent the past 10 years ringing the council and the railways to maintain the area but nothing is done unless I call," Mrs Breuer said.
"The Turrella Street railway corridor is in a disgusting state and never monitored by either party — no one wants to take the responsibility."
Mrs Breuer, a member of the Wolli Creek Preservation Society, said people in the community worked hard to maintain the Cook River parklands and keep the local environment clean but they were getting no support from the council.
She said there were at least eight residential developments being built in the nearby area, meaning the council was "getting millions in contributions".
But the money was not being spent in Turrella.
There was no comment from the council before this story went to print.
