ST GEORGE District Netball Association team are in the Dooleys State League Waratah Cup grand final after defeating 2013 runners-up Sutherland Shire, 60-45, in a major semi-final.
After finishing the regular season as minor premiers for the first time, it will be the association's maiden grand final appearance in the top division.
They won the local derby clash at the Anne Clark Centre at Lidcombe.
St George coach Moira Gaha could not wipe the smile from her face as she heaped praise on her charges at the end of the match.
"It's such an exciting moment, history for St George District Netball Association, to be minor premiers for starters but now to be in the grand final," Gaha said.
"The girls have been building all year, with all 12 of them contributing.
"As a coach, I'm just really lucky to have such versatility in my team, with such a committed, dedicated and real team spirit among the girls.
"It's like working with a family, it's awesome."
St George will play the grand final at 7pm at Anne Clarke Centre on Wednesday, July 23.
The St George team is Kimberly Borger, Holly Pearce, Kaitlyn Bryce, Belynda Loveday, Katie Maguire, Nicole Styles and Kristiana Manu'a.
St George play the winner of the final between Sutherland and Eastwood Ryde, being played tomorrow, Wednesday.
