I was pleased to read in the Leader (July 9) that our Hurstville-based UNICEF youth representative said, "We should listen to kids because it is important they have a voice, especially when decision-makers are dealing with issues that relate to children".
In the same edition, I read that Baird is talking up road funding. What a dinosaur! Our children's greatest need is clean air.
By encouraging private transport our politicians are encouraging us to put ever more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and so make it harder for our children to cope with the resulting climate and sea level extremes.
What we need to do is have an excellent public transport system. Such a system does not need more roads.
