READERS, researchers and those who just enjoy going to the library can now spend more time at the Penshurst and Hurstville branches, with both increasing their hours.
The Penshurst branch no longer closes 1pm-2pm Monday to Friday and is open 2pm-5pm Sundays. From August 3, Hurstville library will be open 9.30am-4pm Sundays instead of 2pm-5pm.
Hurstville mayor Jack Jacovou said it was great news for patrons who regularly used the branches.
"The change to the operating hours will give patrons more flexibility when they choose to visit our libraries," he said.
"Our libraries are a wonderful community resource and there are many great activities on offer, including monthly book chat groups, author talks, school holiday programs, special events specifically designed for seniors, children and families and free Wi-Fi."
Councillor Justin Mining welcomed the longer opening hours.
