A SUCCESSFUL peer support program established last year at Bexley Public School is helping children to learn in a fun, interactive way.
Year 6 pupils work with kindergarten children once a week to support them in educational and leadership opportunities.
By sharing their knowledge of how iPads can be valuable resources in the classroom, the senior peer leaders of the school become the teachers, giving their buddies the confidence to become more tech-savvy learners.
Principal Steven Mead said the Student Buddy Program boosted classroom engagement.
"Research shows that cross-age relationships promote a safe, inclusive and connected school culture," he said.
"The positive relationships formed between experienced students and those new to the school community can promote optimal adjustment to school."
