Good on you Jane Williams (Your View, July 8) for a great letter regarding the Opal card.
I received a call from Mark Coure's office saying there won't be a $40 charge for the card.
Can someone please stand up and tell us, seniors and pensioners, the truth?
And what about the cars parked around Oatley streets, close to the station and the fence that has been erected where pedestrians used to walk?
I could take Mr Coure on a walk from Woronora Parade to Oatley station where the footpath runs out, cross the road, Wonoona Parade West, where cars are parked on both sides of the road, continue walking along a footpath, then across Wonoona Parade again to follow the path through the park to the subway.
Try crossing there to get to the station steps (now fenced for safety, I imagine). Then up two flights of stairs to find the ticket office closed, which is a fair distance from the automatic ticket machine.
So you are making it easier for the seniors? I don't think so. It's all political. Reason? To get an upgrade and lift for Oatley station.
