Congratulations to Leader photographer Jane Dyson, who is a finalist in the NRMA Kennedy Awards for Excellence in NSW Journalism.
Jane took this outstanding portrait of Arncliffe mother, Kylie Warry, who had a mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
‘‘I feel really proud to be representing community newspapers in these awards,’’ Jane said.
‘‘Kylie was incredibly brave to pose for this photograph, and I’m happy it’s been so well received.’’
She said Kylie wanted to raise awareness of breast cancer.
‘‘This was her main objective for being in such a confronting photo,’’ she said.
‘‘We hope that this photo will encourage women to check their bodies, and be aware of what breast cancer can really look like.’’
