Children from The Point Preschool, Oyster Bay, took their lessons outdoors on Friday.
As part of National Tree Day which is on Sunday July 27, about 70 pupils from the preschool and Como Public School joined forces with a Sutherland Shire Bush Care volunteer.
They planted more than 500 trees at Greenpoint Reserve.
This year marked the third year the preschool has participated in the popular environmental event.
‘‘The children want to look after the land outside our gate in the hope more birds will fly in,’’ preschool director Catherine Lee said.
‘‘They want to make it a beautiful place, and have a sense of belonging to the land.’’
