A Rockdale man has died after he was hit by a learner-driver on Sunday night.
Emergency services personnel were called at 7.30pm to Wilton Road, Appin, after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
When they arrived they saw that a man, 40, had been hit by a Subaru Liberty in the southbound lane.
He died at the scene.
The uninjured driver, 47, was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
He was charged with being an unaccompanied learner-driver and not complying with licence conditions.
His licence was suspended and his car was seized for mechanical examination.
He will appear in Campbelltown Local Court on August 18.
Metropolitan Crash Unit investigators would still like to speak to witnesses who may have seen the collision.
A report will be prepared for the State Coroner.
