What is it about some Aussie women? They can't accept compliments from men.
I walked into a local bank today and was greeted by the manager, who came away from the counter all dolled up to warmly welcome me.
I said to her, "You look nice" to which she replied with an icy stare, "What are you here for?"
I am 70 and she was about 30 — indeed a serious disparity; as well, I was dressed in a daggy tracksuit, complemented by ageing Ugg boots.
Having neither shaved nor applied moisturiser, I would not have represented any sort of romantic threat.
For goodness' sake, she did look nice! Why are women wary of complimentary comments from menfolk?
The reason I suggest is that females consider a compliment as insincere — as they don't get them often — and they think that men might have a hidden agenda.
I hope one day to find a woman who can handle compliments but only if she is worthy of them and of me.
