Sharks 'giant killers' ready for the Eels

The Sharks have toppled top-eight teams, Brisbane, Sydney Roosters and Penrith, in the past five games.

The 18-16 win over Penrith at Carrington Park, Bathurst, on Saturday moved the team to 14 points.

With six rounds remaining the Sharks will move heaven and Earth to avoid the wooden spoon.

They are last on the table and have a much inferior for-and-against percentage to Canberra, who are second-last and played Souths in Canberra last night (Monday), with the result not known at the time of going to press.

Sharks fullback Michael Gordon, playing his against his old club, was superb in attack scoring a try and kicking one goal.

And big winger Jacob Gagan, a Parramatta junior, again showed strength with two tries.

Cronulla has beaten the Panthers twice this season.

Gordon, one of the game's most accurate kickers, only landed one from four attempts this time, but that happens to all goalkickers in their career.

In the Holden Cup, Penrith defeated Cronulla 18-14.

Match kick-off against the Eels this Saturday at Remondis Stadium is 3pm.
