THE Guild Theatre Community Theatre Group will portray a great Aussie family saga when Hotel Sorrento opens Friday night, August 1.
Written by award-winning playwright and author of the Australian television series Seachange, Hannie Rayson, Hotel Sorrento is set in a sleepy Victorian suburb where the lives of a family are turned upside down. One of the three has written a semi-autobiographical novel, recently short-listed for the prestigious Booker prize, which casts shadows over the family's reunion.
Directed by Jennifer Gilchrist and featuring an all-star Guild cast, including Glenda and Greg Kenyon, the memorable play is true Australian humour and drama.
Details: August 1-30, Guild Theatre, 87 Railway Street, Rockdale; tickets: adults $20, concessions $17. Bookings: 9521 6358; guildtheatre.com.au
