PENSHURST, Mortdale, Narwee and Riverwood will benefit from $84,000 in Safer Streets funding that will deliver 14 CCTV cameras across those suburbs.
The funding was recently announced in Riverwood by Banks MP David Coleman and Justice Minister Michael Keenan, who were joined by Hurstville mayor Jack Jacovou, and small-business operators.
"Families, business owners and local community organisations have all told me that action needs to be taken to make our streets safer," Mr Coleman said. "It's my job to stand up for our community, and I am proud that we have achieved a good result in getting this funding."
Mr Keenan congratulated Mr Coleman on the work to secure the funding.
"Our government committed to help local communities deliver effective local solutions to crime hot spots and anti-social behaviour through the Safer Streets program and we are delivering on that commitment in this budget," he said.
"All Australians have the right to feel safe and secure in their community and the Safer Streets program will help achieve that."
Mr Coleman said he would seek funding for CCTV cameras at Allawah and Padstow.
