HISTORY will be recognised at Georges River College Peakhurst Campus this month when the college celebrates half a century of educating youth.
Formerly known as Peakhurst High School, the campus opened in 1964 with 1000 pupils and 13 staff.
The college expanded with more classrooms and, most recently, completed its new hall and gymnasium which replaced the "Dome" building.
Former students include politicians, medical researchers and champion sport stars.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the college will display a new mural — a three-year project created by students with the help of artist Gabriel Sommers.
It will be part of the school's annual art exhibition, Peakview, on August 28.
There will be dances and drama performances celebrating the past 50 years of the campus which has become a solid creative and performing arts college.
There will be a gala day on August 30, with entertainment, food stalls, carnival rides and memorabilia.
Ex-students will host two reunions on August 30: for students who attended the school in 1964-1969, a reunion will be at Padstow RSL; for students in the 1970s and 1980s, a reunion will be at Oatley RSL.
