TAREN Point Bowling Club has crowned a wonderfully successful season with victory at the recent state pennants playoffs.
Taren Point's No.1 grade won the state title at Belrose by defeating the host club 56-47 and making consecutive championships — the first time in 25 years.
Taren Point's No.2 grade was runner-up to Cabramatta at Port Macquarie and Taren Point's No.5 grade was semi-finalist at Tamworth. Taren Point's No.3 team were unplaced at Greenacre.
"It was a very proud and historic day for our entire club," team manager Richard Pomana said.
The other local club competing at the state playoffs were Francis Drake's No.4 grade which was semi-finalist at Ettalong.
Club bowls secreteray Pat Budgden said they were defeated 64-66 by Cabra Vale Diggers.
"It was a great effort by our guys who had to play four games in two days to reach the semis," Bugden said.
"And particularly considering that of the 12 players in the fours teams, three are aged over 80."
