THE Palace Patchworkers have been meeting for 30 years to make colourful quilts.
Today, the members not only make quilts for themselves but also for tiny babies at St George Hospital, Kogarah.
They recently presented the hospital with 46 humidicrib quilts, including a number of matching quilts for twins, and a large number of tiny knitted vests and beanies for the babies.
The quilts for the babies are in addition to the "friendship quilts" made to mark the group's 30th anniversary.
The group holds occasional exhibitions in the church hall where it meets and has friendship days and workshops on many aspects of textiles.
Members have donated quilts to The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Liverpool Hospital, Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, and St George Hospital's stroke unit.
The women have also donated a number of breast care bags to the Royal Women's Hospital, Randwick.
The Palace Patchworkers meet 9.30am to 1pm on the second and fourth Friday of the month at the Uniting Church hall, Mortdale.
