The Opal card can be used on buses in Sutherland Shire from next Tuesday.
Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian said the rollout would cover more Hurstville services as well as those in Menai, Sutherland, Miranda, Cronulla, Heathcote and Bundeena.
Ms Berejiklian said this marked the ‘‘half way point’’ in extending Opal card use across the bus network.
“The take-up of Opal has been extraordinary, including more than 55,000 people signing up last week,’’ she said.
Ms Berejiklian reminded public transport users 14 paper ticket types, including the rail weekly, would no longer be sold after September 1.
The Opal card is available from 1000 retail stores, ‘‘pop up’’ kiosks at some rail stations or by visiting opal.com.au or call 13 67 25 (13 OPAL).
