THE newly renovated Cronulla Golf clubhouse officially opened on August 20.
More than 300 people celebrated the opening after three years of work.
Planning for the renovations began in 2011 and full trading began last July.
The clubhouse, on the south-east corner of the course, has floor-to-ceiling windows offering a view over the 9th and 18th holes.
The club has modern facilities consisting of two bars, a brasserie, TAB, gaming and plenty of parking.
General manager Jenny Hawkins said the public response had already shown the renovations had been met with success.
"People are quite excited about the renovations," she said.
"Everyone thinks the food is great and we've had an excellent response from residents."
Ms Hawkins said until recently the 91-year-old golf club had been closed to the wider community.
"Since the renovations, the doors have been thrown open to the community and people have enjoyed that," she said.
Since the renovations were unveiled, non-playing membership has risen by more than 1000.
Ms Hawkins said The Greenery brasserie, a new venture by local restaurateur Carl Jensen of Summer Salt, had proven to be a hit.
She said dining had been at capacity on Friday and Saturday nights.
The modern Australian menu offers a mix of light to substantial meals.
Another key element of the design of the building is a multi-purpose function space to cater for conference, celebrations and weddings.
