PREPARATIONS are well under way this year for the popular Lugarno Lions Spring Festival scheduled for Sunday, September 21.
Festival chairman Mike Butler, from the Lugarno Lions Club, said this year's event — the 35th — was shaping up to be the biggest in the club's history.
"We have kept all the best events from previous years plus added some exciting new attractions including the international performers, La Petite Grande mini circus and an interactive 7D cinema," Mr Butler said.
More than 40,000 people are expected to attend the fun-filled day which is proudly supported by the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader, Hurstville Council and Club Rivers at Riverwood, among other sponsors.
Festival highlights include:
- Free entry to the park and free entertainment provided by talented local performers on two stages;
- La Petite Grande, a mini circus packed with world class short, sharp and silly comedy shows for only $5 a seat;
- Medieval jousting and equestrian events;
- More than a dozen carnival rides including the new UFO and breakdance rides;
- A classic vehicle display with at least 300 cars on show;
- About 180 stalls offering delicious international food, arts and crafts, memorabilia and more.
Mr Butler said the Lions Club would use proceeds from the festival to support many humanitarian projects throughout the community.
There are still some stall spaces available and interested people should email stalls@ lugarnolions.org.au or call the Lions stall
co-ordinator on 0450 300 192.
The festival will be held at Gannons Park, Peakhurst, from 9am to 4.30pm.
