While it is not in the interests of locals shopping at a Westfield for commuters to park all day at the centre, there are a number of people who like to shop for extended periods but will be unable to do this with paid parking.
People with a disability may currently access a number of spaces at Westfield Miranda but with the expected limit of three hours, will restrict their ability to do some shopping and eat at one of the food courts or restaurants and forget seeing a movie within the time limit.
The elderly residents of the shire are often dependent on others to assist them in their shopping and having to pay for parking will discourage friends and family from taking this group to Westfield. A system of getting additional 'free parking' while actually in the centre is needed.

Do you think paid parking if a good or bad thing for Westfield customers?
Note: The Leader has received the following notice from the owner operator of Westfield Australia and New Zealand: "Customers with an authorised disabled parking permit will be able to park free all day."
