The Munich Brauhaus is the size of a small aircraft hangar with a capacity for 1100 people. It sets the scene for steins galore, chicken dances and Oktoberfest mayhem.
Owned by the Urban Purveyor Group, their experience in beer houses goes back to 1976. Since then, they have opened Bavarian Bier Cafe venues in nine other locations and Melbourne is their new target.
The Bavarian beers include Furstenberg, exclusive to the venue, alongside names such as Hacker-Pschorr Hefe Weissbier. There's a locally crafted brew called Kellerbier made to Bavarian brewing guidelines. The menu maintains the Bavarian bent with house-made sausage, schnitzel and roast pork knuckle alongside terrines, rillettes, mash and sauerkraut.
