TELEVISION'S So You Think You Can Dance Australia star Lauren Seymour will join a host of dancers and choreographers at the Australian Dance Festival next month.
Contestants from the Channel Ten show will host workshops over three days from Friday to Sunday, September 12-14 at Sydney Olympic Park Sport Centre, Olympic Boulevard, Sydney Olympic Park.
The dance festival celebrates all things "dance" with classes in all styles, competitions, a grand showcase and some of the best dance pieces from schools and troupes across the country.
Chris Tsattalios, of Kogarah Bay, participated in the Australian Dance Festival as a student before qualifying for the top 20 in So You Think You Can Dance, and will this year teach a commercial jazz workshop during the festival.
"I remember when I went to the festival I just learnt so much, and what you experience is really something else," he said.
Seymour, who has been travelling the country holding workshops since the show finished in May of this year, will teach a lyrical contemp-orary workshop.
"It's been great to get out there and see the kids who have supported us in the show and who we have inspired, which is amazing," she said.
The dancer from Peakhurst said the workshops could accommodate hundreds of dance students from Sydney and interstate.
"There are so many conventions around the world that Australians travel to, and now the Australian Dance Festival is becoming one of those events which people will come to from other countries to take part in."
For the first time, the Grand Showcase will run over two nights to accommodate more routines by dancers Australia-wide.
Some of the most prestigious full-time dance schools in the country will be auditioning during the festival.
