DANEBANK School's dragon boating teams have made a lot of ripples in the water recently.
Now they will make bigger waves at Revanna, in Italy, at the world crew championships.
Apart from winning numerous medals at national level in the sport, the girls will head to Italy next week for a tilt at glory at the highest level.
The championships, from September 2 to September 7, will feature crews from Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Britain, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Macau, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, Ukraine, UAE, and USA.
Danebank School team manager Kerrie Banfield said the girls are thrilled.
"They are very excited about the championships and of course the chance to visit Italy.
"They've trained very hard under the coaching expertise of Peter Arnold, who is head coach of the Sandy Point club.
"The girls have been really supportive of each other and will be ready and eager for the challenges ahead."
Banfield said it will be the team's first international competition.
Danebank School teams competed at the international event in Hong Kong in 2012.
"They came home with a swag of gold and silver medals and with irreplaceable memories of the competition," Banfield said.
