The Google map puts the distance between Kogarah Oval and Remondis Stadium as 11 kilometres.
Well, on Sunday, the NRL gets the award for the schedule stuff-up of the 2014 season.
The Dragons and the Sharks have big supporter bases in the St George area and Sutherland Shire.
And Leader photographer Chris Lane covered both games for print and on-line editions.
The Sharks played the Raiders at 2pm at Remondis Stadium. Lane got fantastic images of the clash.
He then drove back to Kogarah Oval for the Dragons and Titans kick-off at 3pm.
Lane also got top pictures of the Dragons' victory. He did his own version of Clark Kent and Superman and managed to be in two places at times close together covering both games.
Why wasn't the Dragons' game scheduled for Saturday at 3pm?
That would have made sense.
Imagine the drama and hassle for families from the regions if they had supporters in both camps.
A couple of Sundays ago there were no NRL games in the Sydney metropolitan area.
In a year when the crowds have declined and the NRL is scratching its brain how to arrest the slide, there were two games on the same day, kick-off times one hour apart and in league-crazy territory. You can't believe but it happened.
While many league fans are watching the game on Pay-TV or free-to-air television instead of going to watch a match live at grounds, the NRL has to give people better reason to get to the game.
Much has been said and written about the NRL scheduling and matches for television, whether it be on Channel 9 or Foxtel.
But there is too much night footy. And can the Sunday delayed coverage at 4pm on Channel 9 be given the flick after this season?
It's like watching black and white television — outdated.
It's full of advertisements — and with modern technology you know the score.
Grand final passion
