Fourteen paper tickets for Sydney's public transport system will be "retired" on Monday, September 1, as NSW shifts more customers onto the electronic Opal card.

What happens if you bought one of those tickets before September 1?
It will continue working until the expiration date.
Which tickets are staying?
Tickets for pensioners and bus passengers remain unchanged, along with various train, ferry, multi and light rail tickets.

Where can you buy an Opal card from?
Transport for NSW provides a list of retailers by suburb as well as a map.
There will also be a range of kiosks at Westfield shopping centres and train stations selling cards until October 5.
Alternatively you can order your Opal card online and it will be sent to you in the post.
What is the maximum you will pay using an Opal card?
$15 a day or $60 a week, unless you go to the airport.
How many journeys do you need to take until you can travel for free for the rest of the week?
Eight. But remember, two trips count as a single journey if they occur within an hour of each other.
What if you are travelling with a bike?
Bikes do not require their own card, Transport for NSW assures.
"Passengers travelling with a bicycle on trains and ferries only need a valid Opal card for themselves."
Does the value you put on an Opal card expire?
Yes. After nine years.
