A 62-year-old woman has died after being hit by a van at Fairfield on Saturday night.

The woman was crossing Polding Street with two relatives about 6.10pm when she was struck by a Toyota HiAce van.
She had stopped in the middle of the road before attempting to run to the kerb but was unable to move out of the way of the oncoming vehicle, police have been told.
Police and paramedics were called and the woman was taken to Fairfield Hospital where she died a short time later.
A 52-year-old man, who was driving the van, was not injured in the collision but taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
