THERE is an eclectic program for the Folk by the Sea festival at Kiama (September 26-28) and at least one performer will be adding a West African mix.
Singer-songwriter Miriam Lieberman plays West African rhythms on an African harp made of a large gourd, with 21 fishing lines for strings.
"The festival is pretty much the last gig of my tour of Australia with my fourth album Birds of the Moon," she said.
Ms Lieberman will perform four times during the festival, which will feature the sounds of folk, world, roots, Celtic, bluegrass and gypsy music.
The event combines ticket-only entry on the Friday and Saturday, featuring 35 acts, 70 concerts and six venues around Kiama showground.
There will be a free day of local folk artists on the Sunday in Hindmarsh Park, with evening entertainment at Kiama Leagues Club.
Other artists include Damien Leith, Berkeley Songbirds, Beth Patterson from US, Blowhole Buskers, Curragh, Ruido Flamenco, The Con Artists, We Came for Dinosaurs, Wollongong Welsh Choir and Wongawilli.
