Sacked Cronulla five-eighth Todd Carney is poised to sign a four-year deal with French-based Catalans Dragons which play in the British Super League Club.
The 28-year-old has had contracts at three clubs terminated — Cronulla, Sydney Roosters and Canberra.
It is understood the NRL wasn’t keen on registering another contract at an NRL club for Carney.
Carney was sacked by the club in late June for a vulgar act in the men's toilet at Northies , Cronulla that was widely circulated on social media.
In recent weeks, Carney and his manager held talks with Catalan Dragons and also rival British Super League club, Hull Kingston Rovers.
The Leader understands the deal is almost finalised, with his manager David Riolo handling the last-minute negotiations.
Will Todd Carney be a success in the British Super League?
