RAY Bussell, 60, played the game when he was a teenager then didn't pick up a golf club for many decades but has found the recipe for his new-found success on the course and greens.
The Yarrawarrah resident returned to the golf course five years ago to play with Engadine Dragons Social Golf Club.
The group plays each Sunday at various courses in Sutherland Shire and down the south coast.
And in 2012 and now this year, Bussell has walked away with the club's match play trophy.
"I won it 2012 and this year, we didn't hold it 2013, as the event was washed out," Bussell said.
Bussell, a life member of Yarrawarra Junior Rugby League Club, said he had found the reason why he had been proficient on the golf course each Sunday.
"I have raisin toast and coffee before we play," he said.
"And the putting advice from Steve and the bunker play tips from Leigh, who are social club members, have helped me significantly."
Bussell plays touch football in local competitions, which keeps him fit.
"I enjoy my golf and playing sport," Bussell said. "I like to keep active."
