An Auburn man, 32, is in a critical condition after a head-on collision at Alfords Point on Monday.
The man was driving north on Alfords Point Road just before 7.30am when he lost control of his car, crossed into incoming traffic and collided with a car in the opposite direction.
He was airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition with internal injuries and a fractured vertebrae. He is now in a stable condition.
There was an earlier accident in the same area where a Barden Ridge man, 26, crashed into a barrier.
He was uninjured but the accident caused significant traffic delays.
Alfords Point Road was closed for several hours before reopening just before noon.
Sutherland police are investigating both accidents.
