Organisers say they expect hundreds of people, including workers in the solar power industry, to gather at Ramsgate tonight (Wednesday) to express concern at possible federal government changes to Australia's renewable energy target.
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten and Greens leader Christine Milne are due to speak at the meeting at Ramsgate RSL Memorial Club from 6-8pm.
The venue is in Barton, one of the government's most marginal electorates.
Organiser, the Australian Solar Council, said axing the renewable energy target would hit NSW families and the local solar industry hard.
A review panel recommended in August the renewable energy target be dramatically scaled back, but critics claimed the process was a "sham".
Prime Minister Tony Abbott made an election promise to maintain the target.
Do you think the target should be reduced or axed?
