WHEN it comes to local designers we always love to hear of an industry success story.
Depending on your love of online shopping, you may or not not have heard of Scosha — the jewellery label that calls New York home.
If you haven't, check it out. It's higher-end priced but the quality is superb.
Scosha is owned and designed by former Sutherland Shire girl Scosha Wasserman, who lived at Bonnet Bay and Cronulla before she moved overseas in 2005.
One of her designs was worn by actress Keira Knightley on the set of a movie — that's when you know you've really made it!
It was in 2003 when Scosha, a painter and sculptor, travelled through South America, and then trained in the craft of ancient weaving methods in India, Thailand and Turkey.
She developed her skills, going from a night market stall in Brazil to her own base in a tiny Brooklyn studio.
Now at Williamsburg (NY), the flagship store is a display of intricate art, where metals and gems are fused and ready to be shipped.
Scosha is stocked in more than 125 stores across four continents, and has won the hearts of top fashion editors, stylists, models and celebrities.
Her Forget Me Not collection was inspired by the flower of that name.
