Check out what happens during the school holidays when 85 tonnes of sand appears at Cronulla Plaza.
The Mythical Sand Creatures of the Shire, a four-metre-high professional sand sculpture, will tell a story about sand hills that have been thousands of years in the making.
The sand sculpture exhibition will be the star attraction of the plaza’s free school holiday fun.
Watch expert sculptors in action on September 20-25 as they create the sand masterpieces and then see the finished product from 10am until 5pm daily until October, 6.
Sutherland Shire mayor Steve Simpson said the exhibition promised to be an awe-inspiring sight and children can join in to create their own masterpieces.
“If your children love to be hands-on, they will love the chance to create their own mythical sea creature from sand and have it added to our community sand sculpture between 11am and 3pm daily on the amphitheatre stage,” he said.
The sculptures will be created in a specially constructed shelter at Cronulla Plaza, just near the pirate ship playground and old Commonwealth Bank building.
