About 50 family and friends remembered Aneri Patel on Sunday at a Kogarah RSL memorial service.
Aneri, 16, a Kogarah High School student, died about 11.30am on September 15 after a 4WD crashed into the bus stop in Railway Parade, Kogarah, and into the O’Reilly & Daly Chemist, demolishing half the shop and injuring two people.
Aneri had finished exams and was waiting for a bus when the tragedy happened.
Parents Sonal and Nikul Patel, who organised the memorial in honour of their only daughter, prayed with family members as they remembered their daughter and friend.
Family members paid tribute to the teenager during the two-hour service.
Candles and flowers were next to a framed picture of Aneri.
Chemist owner Joseph Allam said staff were still shaken following the tragedy.
‘‘It’s been very stressful, an absolute tragedy,’’ he said. ‘‘We want to extend our sincere sympathy to the family of Aneri.’’
Long-term employee Sue Ferguson, 51, was one of the two people injured in the crash; she is a well-known personality in the pharmacy.
She was working inside at the time of the crash and taken to St George Hospital; she was in a stable condition after being injured by debris.
‘‘Everyone loves Sue,’’ Mr Allam said. ‘‘We love and miss her and hope she makes a speedy recovery. We do want to thank the whole Kogarah community for their support.’’
The flowers left as a tribute to Aneri at the Kogarah crash site have now been moved across the road, near the large eucalyptus trees outside Kogarah Railway Station. The chemist shop has re-opened, with the glass replaced and the boards, which were covering the damage, removed.
A transport spokesman said on Monday morning that the bus stop outside the chemist would remain closed for now pending further investigation. It has been moved further along Railway Parade.
