TOP surfers showed their skills on the weekend at North Cronulla in the Maxum ASP Women’s Pro Junior and NRMA Women’s Surf Classic.
Reigning over-35 Australian champion Sandra English, of Budgewoi, added another feather to her cap, taking a solid win in the over-35 women’s division.
Sienna Coulter of Balgowlah, managed to muster up some last minute heroics in the NRMA Women’s Surf Classic open longboard division to take the victory over Lara Murphy and Cronulla surfer April Charles.
Zahli Kelly of Wooloowin, Queensland, made the journey to NSW worthwhile, successfully taking out the under-14 girls division.
After getting knocked out in the quarter finals of the Maxum ASP Women’s Pro Junior, Isabella Nichols, of Coolum, managed to claim victory in the open women’s division in the NRMA Women’s Surf Classic.
In the Maxum ASP Women’s Pro Junior event, Kobie Enright, of Tweed Heads, claimed the Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) event, earning herself $1000 for the win and valuable rankings points.
The Maxum ASP Women’s Pro Junior had $2000 prize-money on offer and vital ASP Pro Junior Series rankings points for surfers vying to qualify for the ASP World Junior Championships from October 25 to November 2 in Ericeira, Portugal.
In addition to the ASP Australasia JQS event, the NRMA Women’s Surf Classic had some of Australia’s best female surfers in a variety of different surfing disciplines including junior and open longboard, shortboard and stand-up paddleboard.
